Winter Snowflake Pillows

I sewed these pillow covers over the weekend, stitching the snowflakes on by hand while watching TV and wow, hand stitching takes forever.

I'm putting a bit of a how-to after the cut.

I started by searching for snowflake designs online. I printed out the templates and then cut the snowflakes out of regular printer paper.

I pinned down and then traced the snowflakes onto white polar fleece using a gel pen, this worked best for me.

I carefully cut out the snowflakes inside the inked lines to avoid having any of the markings show on the right side of the fabric.

I cut a 17 inch square out of the bright blue felt-like fabric, pinned the snowflakes to it, and then stitched all around by hand using a blanket stitch.  I decided not to machine stitch, don't ask me why.  I guess I felt like vegging on the couch watching Julia Childs and Jacques Pepin cook wonderful things.

I sewed the covers using an envelope style enclosure in the back so I could use my existing accent pillows as inserts.
